the road...
the four points created by this arrangement of celestial and human bodies was a subconscious reference to Dikenga or the "Kongo Cross"--I am discovering this 7 years later.
we watch a nude Black human being suspended in space, but descending an earthly life, summarized in five stages: a small child with their back to their new life, facing the past, sitting cross-legged and holding their left foot. an adult walking forward, but with clenched fists on bent arms. an elder fallen from the wooden chair behind them, a hole in their chest and a hand trying to keep their bloody heart from falling out. The elder's legs straddle an Earth-like planet, baring its cross-section; this reveals a blue crust, green mantle, yellow outer-core, red inner-core, and the skeleton curled-up in the red. Bubbles float from the skeleton to the other side of the planet where the final stage projects: a large deciduous tree. On the other axis, the elder is flanked by the crescent moon in the top right corner and the sun in the bottom left. Both the elder and the skeleton could be interpreted as looking down toward this sun. The sky is filled with bubbly clouds and far-away stars. Most clouds have a lilac tint, but the small child is on a green cloud, the adult on blue and the elder on pink.
