Nothing Like You (2023)
This collage is an ode to the mock strawberry plant (Potentilla indica) which I have become so familiar with while foraging in Maryland.

The background is dotted in overlapping red and pink, reminiscent of a strawberry's cross-section. Line drawings of a diverse bunch of humanoid figures dance across the entire canvas, all inspired by African iconography. At the center is the 3D element. A green island protrudes out, painted with yellow flowers with matching yellow beads, surrounded by brown beads for dirt, green felt leaves in mock strawberry fashion, and red sparkly pom-poms catching shine the same as mock strawberries do. Along the bottom of the piece is a succession of structures in green black and yellow. Abstract buildings run from the left edge, creating a small, unique city skyline, until they reach an overpass--after which, more earthen homes start to appear.
